Learning to Play Drums Tip #2: You also have to warm up your fingers. To warm up your fingers, place them on a flat surface and spread your fingers apart. Begin stretching as if you are reaching for something. Whenever you are stretching, count up to 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat the process 5 times. Also, you need to warm up your legs. In a standing position with the feet together, raise your right leg up as high as it goes. Try to get your knees to touch your chest and bring it back down. Do the same with the other leg. Repeat this exercise 10 times on each leg.
